Epsom and rich green were made for each other. The embossed grain on this Kelly 25 gives Malachite a crisp, almost lacquered depth — no two panels catch the light the same way, and the colour never flattens into black the way softer greens can.
Malachite carries a stone-like darkness: green in the sun, deeper and closer to forest in the shade. I wear mine to the office with grey and navy most days, and it has never felt loud. At 25 x 17 x 7 cm the bag swallows a compact wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses and a small notebook without any bulge at the gussets.
Epsom is the workhorse of the leather family: heat-embossed, scratch-resistant and famously good at holding shape. Rain wipes straight off; a fingernail dragged across the surface leaves nothing behind. Gold hardware adds warmth that suits the green better than palladium, and the turn-lock still snaps shut with satisfying finality.
The trade-off is temperament. Epsom is rigid by design, so this bag will never slouch or soften into something casual — if you want a Kelly that folds against your side with wear, choose Togo or Swift instead. The other note is colour care: green hides everyday marks well but shows edge wear at the corners over years. A neutral cream polish twice a year keeps the edges dark and even. Mine has aged without drama.
