Can a 19-centimetre bag genuinely be a daily bag? Mine is. The Kelly Mini 2 measures 19 x 12 x 5.5 cm, and on a normal Tuesday it carries my phone, a card holder, keys, a lipstick and a small packet of mints — everything I actually touch, and nothing I don’t. The rest lives in a tote in the office drawer.
Chèvre is the reason this mini feels different from its Epsom siblings. Goat leather is lighter, with a fine, slightly irregular grain that has a softness to it from the very first day; there is no break-in period. In Noir with gold hardware it reads formal enough for evening but relaxed enough that I don’t baby it. The strap is long enough for crossbody on my 170cm frame, and the rolled handle still fits a hand or a wrist.
I like the small mechanical details on this size: the sanglé straps are proportioned so the turn-lock doesn’t dominate the flap, and the interior zip pocket is cut to hold a spare key and a SIM card without bulking the silhouette. The clochette, honestly, lives in the dust bag.
The honest note about chèvre: the grain is fine enough that a careless fingernail can leave a faint mark, especially near the handle mounts, and pale scratches are most visible on black. In practice they blur with a fingertip and a dab of conditioner. If absolute bulletproof is the goal, Epsom wins; if feel is the goal, chèvre wins, and this bag is proof.
