Yellow is the color I talk myself out of every spring and then carry all summer. Jaune Amber is a golden, honeyed yellow, sunnier than mustard and less acid than lemon, and Epsom’s flat embossed surface keeps it from looking either too sweet or too loud.
The Kelly Pochette measures 22 by 12 cm with a 7 cm gusset, so it holds a phone, cards, keys, a compact and a lipstick, and the flap closes without the turn-lock straining. The single top handle sits neatly in the hand, which means it travels with me to outdoor lunches where a shoulder bag would spend the afternoon on a chair back.
Epsom is a rigid, pressed-grain calf, and that is the whole reason a yellow bag survives a summer without losing its architecture. It resists scratching well. The trade-offs are that it will not stretch to take one more thing, and that a bright leather shows dust, so a five-second wipe is part of the ritual.
Worn against white, navy or tan, this one works harder than its mood suggests.
Two things I would tell a friend before buying yellow: it looks best against white, denim and tan, and it competes with nothing else in the outfit, so keep the rest quiet. Epsom’s surface does not darken at the edges either, so the color you unbox today is the color you will carry in five years. That predictability is why I own two.
