Orange is a commitment, not a colour choice. I bought this R.M.S. in 93 Orange with 9J Feu Orange knowing exactly what I was signing up for, and after three months of daily use I would sign again. It turns a routine card tap into a small event, which sounds trivial until you notice how often you reach for a payment card in a week.
The dimensions stay civilised at ten and a half by seven centimetres, two deep, so daily capacity is a matter of discipline rather than space. I carry four cards and a folded note; the holder would hold more, but the point of a piece this vivid is that you notice what you put in it. Nothing shifts when I flip it open with one hand at the till.
Both oranges are burnt into the Evecolor finish rather than sprayed on, and the leather’s tight grain gives them a depth that cheap hides never manage. The closure rests on enamel fittings in a matching tone, and the surface has shrugged off pocket wear, keys and one rainy dash. What it has picked up instead is a slight glow at the edges, which is the sort of change I buy leather for.
Straight talk: bright orange against a dark coat draws eyes, and occasionally questions. If you would rather not discuss your wallet, this is the wrong wallet. Everyone else gets a holder that keeps its colour, keeps its shape and never needs a rescue wipe.
