Some colours belong to a house the way a scent belongs to a person, and orange is that colour here — a warm, clementine-adjacent shade with the faintest brick in it. Shade 93 on soft Clemence is less flag, more lantern: it glows in daylight and goes mellow indoors.
The bag is eighteen centimetres wide and packed with that orange from every angle. The form is the familiar Picotin Lock 18 — a bucket with one rolled handle, a rounded base and the small lock plate that gathers the strap ends — and the leather is Taurillon Clemence, with its thick, pebbled surface and matte face. Gold hardware was the right call; it deepens the fruit and picks up the brick undertone.
What it holds: phone, wallet, keys, lip balm, and a folded tote for the market on Saturdays. The bucket swallows small things gracefully and the handle loops over the wrist, leaving both hands free for produce and pastries.
What I wear it with: denim, white shirts, grey knitwear, a navy coat in winter. What I never do is treat it as a neutral — it is a guest of honour, and it knows it.
Honest note: this is the least neutral bag I own, and it will be the loudest thing in a quiet outfit, every single time. I also store it well away from windows, because strong light is the one thing that will change a shade this saturated over long years. If neither of those frightens you, nothing beats orange for making a Tuesday feel like a small event.
