Jaune Milton is the yellow of the first daffodils and of lemons on a windowsill — warm, saturated, and bracelets-of-sunshine optimistic. I bought it on a grey week and it has been my favourite antidote to weather ever since.
At eighteen centimetres, the bag is small enough to stay out of the way and bright enough to find in any room you leave it in. It is the usual Picotin Lock 18 arrangement — rolled handle, soft rounded base, straps gathered through the little lock at the top — and the usual Taurillon Clemence hand: thick pebbling, matte finish, a leather that folds and softens rather than resisting. Silver hardware keeps the yellow wittier and less golden.
My carry list is short on purpose: phone, a cardcase, keys and a lipstick, plus sunglasses on the truly sunny days this bag somehow summons. It rides the wrist; it sits on café tables looking pleased with itself.
Treat yellow as your boldest neutral: it sits happily with grey, white and washed denim, and no one wins an argument with a bag this cheerful.
Honest caution: a bright yellow this cheerful is honest about everything, so marks, spots and creases all get a fair hearing. Keep it out of the rain when you can, wipe what you can when you can’t, and give it the protective treatment early. In return, it will be the one bag in your collection that improves any grey Monday.
