Gris Tourterelle — turtle dove grey — is the color people ask me about most when they see it in person. It is a light, warm grey, dove rather than stone, with a softness that seems to come from the leather itself. On this Lindy 26 the gold hardware warms it another notch, so the overall impression is of something pale and friendly, not cool and architectural.
The bag is the standard 26 by 18 by 12 centimetres in Taurillon Clemence, whose matte pebble grain gives the light grey something to hold on to; a smooth leather would have turned this color into a wall. The shape relaxes naturally, handles folding down, strap moving to wherever the day needs it.
I use it as a spring and summer bag, with contents to match: a white card holder, phone, keys, sunglasses, a compact, lipstick, a paperback. The side zips take a folded fan or a bus pass. It looks best with pastels and tone-on-tone creams, and surprisingly good against olive and navy — the two tones that make pale grey come alive at once.
The caution is simply this: this is the palest grey in the family, and it will not hide a careless hand. Pen marks, newsprint, a child’s sticky fingers — all show, and all usually lift with a dry cloth if attacked the same day. Buy it if you enjoy caring for things. Skip it if you want a bag that ignores you.
