Graphite is the color I recommend to people who tell me they only wear black. It is a softened black — a dark grey with enough presence to feel deliberate — and in Swift calfskin it has a smooth, even surface that makes the tone look forged rather than painted. With matte alligator panels added, the bag becomes three textures of one idea, and the gold hardware is the single candle in the room.
Dimensions stay the classic ones: 26 by 18 by 12 centimetres, soft-shouldered, with folding handles and a detachable strap. On the arm the silhouette is slim; on a chair it collapses into a neat dark shape that never looks abandoned.
My usual load for it: a notebook, phone, pen case, wallet, keys, glasses, and a water bottle if the day will be long. The two outer zips hold a transit pass and a lint-free cloth — which I keep because graphite is the one color where you will actually want to wipe the Swift surface from time to time.
Two truths before buying. First, this is the least forgiving black-family color for fingerprints; the smooth surface shows a print now and then, and a dry microfibre cloth erases it in seconds. Second, matte alligator wants to stay dry, so the week’s forecast belongs in your decision. Neither is a problem. They are just the habits this leather rewards.
