A friend once asked me to find her a pink bag that did not look like a present for a child. I pointed her at Rose Sakura, a cherry-blossom pink that pales to almost white in some lights but keeps a clear pink heart in daylight.
This is the Kelly Pochette version, Swift calfskin with silver hardware, 22 by 12 by 7 centimetres of hand-carry. The metal choice matters: silver keeps the pink clean, and I think gold would have made it sweeter than most adults want. Inside, it swallowed my phone, cards and a small folding mirror on the first evening I used it, which is more than the size suggests.
On longevity, Swift’s smooth surface shows wear as a soft sheen rather than scuffing badly, and pale pink hides the tiny marks that a white bag would flaunt. The one thing I would not do is carry it against raw denim or a brand-new leather jacket. Nor is it a bag for a downpour, though a light shower has left mine perfectly fine. A cream polish every few months keeps the finish even, and nothing else has been required from me in eighteen months of steady use.
I wear it with grey, cream and camel, and against all three it looks considered rather than girlish. It is the sort of bag people compliment second, after they have already decided they like your outfit.
