Pale bags are sold as summer things, which is a mistake. A washed mauve like this, soft enough to sit beside grey flannel without arguing, gives a winter coat something to react to. Mauve Pale is barely there in bright sun and quietly pink indoors, which is exactly why it earns its place in both seasons.
The Kelly Pochette in Swift calfskin, 22 x 12 x 7 cm, silver hardware. As a hand-carry piece it is at its best when a day has been pared down to essentials: phone, cards, keys and lipstick, in that order. The flap opens wide enough to see the whole interior at a glance, so nothing disappears into a corner the way it does in deeper bags.
One thing to know before you choose it. Light Swift picks up colour from anything that bleeds, and because the shade sits close to skin tone in photographs, the hardware is what gives the bag its definition. If you like contrast, reset your expectations; if you like subtle, this is the sweet spot. A neutral cream polish twice a year keeps the surface even, and it should live in its dust bag between uses.
Mine comes out mostly for lunches, appointments and travel days when the big bag stays in the hotel. It is the quietest piece I own and, oddly, the one that collects the most compliments.
