Ostrich is the exotic I recommend first to anyone who is nervous about exotic leather. The quill follicles are part of the hide, not a finish applied to it, so nothing flakes or peels off; the surface is soft, slightly raised, and it genuinely enjoys being touched rather than protected.
Blue Glacier is a pale, cool blue that sits beautifully with the natural shine of ostrich from South Africa. With silver hardware, the whole bag turns icy rather than sweet — think winter sky, not baby shower. The raise of the quills gives the colour texture, which a smooth hide would not.
The format is the 19 x 12 x 5.5 cm Kelly Mini, so picture a phone, a cardholder, keys, one lipstick. It is an evening and lunch bag; there is no version of it that carries a water bottle, and I stopped wishing otherwise. A phone in a slim case is the true limit — anything larger fights the flap.
Two honest notes. Pale ostrich can pick up indigo from new denim, so I keep it off raw jeans for the first months. And the quills flatten where the flap presses over the years — brush them gently in one direction and they stand back up.
Treat it well and this is the lightest, friendliest exotic you will ever carry. It is also the one guests ask to touch, which never happens with a smooth hide.
