Aqua is the colour of shallow water over white sand, and 79 on chèvre catches that exactly — the fine goat grain diffuses the dye so the turquoise shifts between green and blue depending on the light, the way a lagoon does. I took this Kelly Mini 2 on a week by the sea and it has been my holiday bag ever since.
At 19 x 12 x 5.5 cm and light in the hand, it carries the holiday minimum: phone, card holder, keys, lipstick, sunscreen stick and a folded linen scarf, with the strap across the body for markets and boardwalks. Silver hardware matches the coolness of the colour; gold would have made it tropical in a way aqua does not quite deserve. Chèvre also handles humidity better than most smooth calfskins, which is a real consideration for a travel bag.
Back home, aqua is surprisingly capable in a city wardrobe — it works with white, sand, navy and grey, and gives a black outfit a single cool note. The interior pockets are the usual zip and slip, and the shell stays structured through the strap mounts because chèvre, though soft, holds its shape well in small formats.
Honest note: the fine grain of chèvre will record light fingernail marks on the flap, and on pale aqua they are most visible in low light. They diminish with a fingertip rub and a touch of cream, and I have stopped worrying about them. Light colours do brighten at the corners over time; there is no free lunch with pale leather, only good maintenance and honest expectations.
