There is a moment with every large Kelly when the bag stops being an accessory and becomes equipment. On the Maxi 42 that moment arrives in the morning: laptop, notebook, charger, a folder of drawings, and it all slides into 42 by 16 by 28 cm of structured space without a fight. In camel Togo with silver hardware the bag looks like travel luggage that learned some manners.
Togo is a practical partner at this size. The pebbled surface takes daily friction without shining up, and the leather has just enough softness that a fully loaded bag still closes comfortably. The flap and turn-lock work the same as on a small Kelly, which means one motion to open and everything in view rather than buried in a cavern.
37 Gold is a forgiving colour for a working bag: dust and light marks vanish into the warm tone far better than they would on black or grey, and against denim or olive it looks settled rather than precious. The silver hardware keeps the camel from feeling too rustic for an office.
Now the honest part. A Maxi 42 carried all day is heavy, whatever the leather, and the single handle means you carry the weight on one arm or use the strap across the body, which I do on long walks between meetings. If your daily haul is a phone and a notebook, the 42 will feel enormous. If it resembles a small library, this is the Kelly that works.
