Beton means concrete, and ostrich gives the grey a warmth concrete never has. This Kelly 25 is a soft mid-grey with a trace of beige under it, and the quill follicles, those small raised ring-shaped bumps that make ostrich unmistakable, turn a plain grey into a landscape. Then rose gold hardware steps in and warms the whole thing by a degree.
Ostrich is the lightest full-leather I own at this size, and the 25 by 17 by 7 cm frame feels almost weightless coming out of the dust bag. Softness is the trade: the bag has more give than an Epsom, which I like in a grey this quiet, because it reads roomy and relaxed rather than formal. Inside: phone, card holder, keys, sunglasses, a compact.
The rose gold is the deciding detail. Silver would have made this a cool, serious grey bag; rose gold makes it friendly, and the quill pattern picks up the metal’s warmth at every bump.
Honest note: rose gold hardware is the most polarising choice in the family, because it flatters grey, cream and brown beautifully and sits oddly against cool pink or bright green, so build your outfits around it. Also, quills are casual by nature; this bag dresses down more happily than it dresses up. Worn with a heavy winter coat it is the best kind of mismatch, and it has survived two seasons without a scratch, thanks to the toughness that hides under that soft look.
