I bought this 2424 for a three-week trip and never took the backup bag out of the closet. Etoupe is the grey-brown that ends arguments: it sat politely against olive trousers, a black coat and a cream sweater without ever becoming the loudest thing in the room.
The build is Evercolor and Swift, the pressed grain of the first keeping the shape, the smoothness of the second letting the flap fall open cleanly when the turnlock is released. Silver hardware keeps the palette cool; gold would have pulled everything warmer. The strap has no pad and needs none; it rides flat on the shoulder even over a thin shirt, and it has never slid off unprompted.
The 29 cm shell swallows what I actually travel with: passport pouch, paperback, a compact case, chargers and, on the flight home, a scarf. A slimmer interior pocket takes a phone flat against the lining. At security it went through the scanner as neatly as a tray, and nothing had to be rearranged afterwards.
One honest point about the colour: Etoupe does not commit. If you want a definite brown, this will disappoint you; if you want a cold grey, it will, too. It is both, depending on the light, which is exactly why I keep reaching for it.
After months of use the corners have taken on a soft sheen, the kind that says a bag is being lived in rather than stored. It has outlasted two phones and one change of job, which is its own sort of endorsement.
