Beton is the off-white that is not quite white and not quite beige. A greige, if you will allow the word, and it behaves differently from Craie or Nata precisely because of the grey in it: less drama, more calm.
On the 2424 the colour sits over pressed Evercolor with Swift under the flap, and the gold hardware reads especially warm against it, the way brass does against limestone. The body measures twenty-nine centimetres across, comfortable under an arm and steady on a table. The flap opens softly, and the turnlock has that dense, mechanical click that tells you the plate has been struck properly.
I use mine for weekend lunches and studio visits. A compact camera in its case, my phone, keys, a slim wallet and sunglasses all fit with the flap closing comfortably, and the strap goes long enough to wear over a blazer. The interior is the same calm colour as the exterior, so finding a dark wallet inside is easy, which I did not think to check before buying.
What I watch out for is colour transfer from dark knitwear, not dirt exactly, but fibres that a light greige remembers. A quick wipe at the end of the day keeps the surface even. I also empty it onto the console table each evening, which is the easiest habit I know for keeping a light-tone bag honest.
If your closet is built around stone, cream and grey, this is the 2424 that will make the rest of it look deliberate.
