I bought my first red bag in my thirties, after years of insisting I was a black-and-brown person. The Jypsiere Mini in Rouge Coeur is the one I should have started with. Rouge Coeur is the colour of a glass of Burgundy held up to a lamp, deep and warm, and against the gold hardware it reads almost festive without ever becoming loud.
The shape is a proper messenger. A broad flap sits over a slim body that measures twenty-three centimetres across, seventeen tall and only five deep, flat enough to ride on the hip and deep enough for the essentials. Most days mine carries a phone, a slim cardholder, keys and a lipstick, and the evercolor calfskin, with its fine even grain, keeps the flap sitting square instead of slouching.
What keeps surprising me is the strap. Worn crossbody, the bag lands at the natural waist, and the firm body holds its edges rather than collapsing into the small of my back the way softer messengers tend to. Evercolor takes dye deeply, so after a rainy winter of city wear the red has neither dulled nor cracked.
One honest note: the turn-lock wants two hands for the first week, and the five-centimetre profile will strain if you force a bulky wallet and a full sunglasses case inside together. Treat it as a phone-and-documents bag with a party in its heart, and it will carry an evening better than most clutches.
