Mauve Sylvestre is the softest colour in this collection, a lavender-pink with grey in it, and on a piece this size a soft colour is an asset: small things can carry stronger tones than big bags can, because you only ever see them in flashes.
The Constance To Go measures 20 cm across, 3.5 cm deep and 12 cm tall. It handles cards, notes and a few coins, closes with the enamel fitting, and can be worn on its strap or folded into a tote. This is the one I grab when my outfit is grey or white and needs a single note of colour that is not aggressive about it.
Epsom is a good partner for a pale shade. Its pressed grain does not absorb pigment unevenly, and it repels the scuffs that would mark lighter tones on other leathers, so the surface stays even across the flap. The caveat is the one that applies to all pastels: ink and dark denim are enemies, and transfer from a brand-new coat is possible. Mine has survived a full spring with a wipe after each outing and has kept its colour exactly. Epsom also holds the shape of the flap, so the wallet always looks closed even when it is full.
Worn crossbody with a white dress or tucked under an arm with denim, it never looks like a costume. It reads as a small, considered choice, which is what it is.
