Gris Perle with gold is a study in warmth: the pearl grey of chèvre has a cream undertone, and gold-tone hardware pulls it out until the bag looks like a pale champagne stone rather than a grey one. It sits beautifully with ivory, camel and bronze – colours I reach for from October onward.
Everything else is the standard middle Constance, with chèvre’s fine, subtly irregular grain covering the body, the flap and the gusset. Goat leather takes the pale grey slightly softer than pressed calfskin would – there is a hint of movement in the surface, a shadow here and there – which is precisely the character I wanted. The frame stays firm; the leather feels alive.
What I carry: phone, small wallet, keys, lipstick, a folding mirror. The fixed strap sits crossbody, and the bag is light enough for all-day wear without shoulder fatigue, which I appreciate more every year. Inside, a flat pocket keeps cards from wandering, and the flap gusset means the bag opens wide without gaping.
Living with it: chèvre in a pale grey can look dust-dull rather than dusty if it goes unhandled for weeks, because the fine grain holds a little surface bloom. Simply handling and wiping restores the sheen – it is a leather that wants to be used. And avoid storing it pressed under other bags, since chèvre creases softly rather than springing back like pressed calf.
