Terracotta suede over a black insole and black sole: that contrast is the design. Up close it looks like a pottery shard; from a distance it is simply a warm sandal that goes with everything sandy, woven and olive in your closet.
The upper is suede goatskin with the Chypre’s adjustable strap and anatomical black rubber sole. Heel height is half an inch, and this version keeps a plain black calfskin insole rather than a tonal one, so the interior stays dark and practical.
Practically, mine live by the back door. Bike basket, supermarket tiles, the walk to collect the post: the rubber sole handles all of it, and the warm colour makes even jeans and a white shirt look thought about. In a full week of errands they needed nothing beyond a wipe.
The trade-off is matching. Terracotta is a specific tone and can fight a bright coral or a cool pink, so I keep outfits to cream, khaki, denim and white when I wear them. Dry ground also dusts the suede, though a quick brush restores the nap.
Aging is kind to this colour: the surface lifts toward a lighter, dustier orange at the toe where the foot flexes, while the rest stays even. Made in Italy, in six sizes from 36 to 41. A pair that makes neutrals look deliberate, which is harder than it sounds, and it flatters both gold and silver jewellery if that sort of thing worries you.
