Under the shop lights Vert Comics looked almost neon; three months of daylight calmed it to a deep, slightly blue grass green that I now wear more than any other colour in the drawer. That shift is worth knowing about before you commit.
The construction is the Duo’s familiar trick: a single folded form, ten centimetres wide, with a sleeve on each face so cards never rub. Swift supplies the fine, matte surface; chèvre gives the second layer enough spring that the fold stays crisp even when both sides are full. The first week it felt louder than anything I owned; by the third I was choosing jackets to match it.
I carry it in a field jacket with a couple of cards, a transit pass and a folded bill, and the flat profile means the pocket shows no rectangle. In a meeting, a green card holder is unusual enough to be a small conversation piece – people notice, in a good way.
But loud is loud. This green narrows your options: it wants denim, khaki, grey or black around it, and it looks cartoonish beside anything patterned or pastel. Silver trim, at least, keeps the metal side of the equation neutral, and against a black coat with a white shirt it reads as a considered choice rather than a shout.
Two seasons in, the colour has darkened a fraction in the crease where thumbs go, which I count as character rather than damage. The silver edging has stayed bright too, without the dull film cheap hardware picks up in a pocket.
