Craie means chalk, and that is exactly the tone: a warm off-white with a faint beige cast, not the clinical white of a lab coat. I first carried this colour on a spring trip and spent the whole week watching it behave better than I feared, because Togo’s pebble grain breaks up the surface just enough that small marks do not glare the way they would on a smooth pale leather.
With gold hardware the whole bag warms up further, which is why I would pair Craie with gold rather than silver: the metal feels like the same family as the leather. In daylight it reads creamy against a black coat and crisply bright against linen. In the evening, indoors, it takes on whatever light the room has, sometimes blush, sometimes grey.
Inside, the 30 carries what a day asks for: a small wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses, a lipstick and a compact, with a folded scarf tucked along one side. The internal pockets and the zip keep the smaller pieces tidy, and because the lining is dark, pale contents are easy to spot.
The one honest caution is upkeep. Pale leather wants a wipe after handling, and I would keep it away from new dark denim and from the bottom of a bag pile. Treat it kindly and it stays fresh, and few bags do more to lift a plain outfit at seven in the morning.
