Mushroom is the chameleon of this group: a greige that reads taupe in daylight, warm grey under lamplight and almost olive in the shadow of a corridor. If you like a bag that changes character with the room, this is it; if you need absolute colour certainty, look elsewhere. I have watched it change colour over a single afternoon of errands, and it never once looked confused.
Roughly eleven inches across, the Jypsiere 28 is my idea of a weekend workhorse. A notebook, phone, cards and keys go into the main space, and the soft Clemence leather relaxes around them instead of fighting back. It is the shape I take to a cafe when I plan to stay two hours. On a crowded bus I hold it flat against my side and it stays there.
The silver-tone hardware stays cool and unobtrusive, and the pebbled leather in this colour has a dry, powdery surface that masks minor scuffs better than darker skins do. Wear it across the body, open it on your lap, and it behaves like a bag someone already broke in for you. It also weighs next to nothing compared with structured leathers of the same size.
One caveat, to set expectations properly: Clemence is genuinely soft, so the silhouette slouches from day one and only gets more so. If you are looking for a crisp, structured messenger, this leather is the wrong choice, and Epsom elsewhere in the range is the right one. Judged on those terms, it may be the most relaxed bag we carry.
