There is a green that belongs in a garden and a green that belongs in a wardrobe, and Vert Criquet is somehow both. It is a clear grass green, saturated rather than soft, and against gold hardware it takes on a lovely vintage edge, like a felt board in a old sports club. I bring it out whenever an outfit needs a pulse.
19 cm wide and 15 cm from the base to the flap, it keeps the compact proportions of the family: phone, keys, cards, a lipstick, and a lens cloth that has quietly become a permanent resident. The strap crosses over a shirt comfortably and tucks under the arm over a jacket without fuss.
Epsom’s pressed grain holds this much green without variation, so the bag never looks blotchy or faded, and the leather takes real daily contact without complaint: restaurant tables, car doors, one tumble off a chair. The flap keeps a straight leading edge, and the gold clasp sits dead centre in its cutout, which I check on every Constance I handle.
Honest note: strong green is a statement, and it wants denim, cream, black or grey, not prints and not rival colours. Within that rule I have never had a bag do more for a plain outfit, and it makes my suitcase recognisable from across a terminal. The colour has stayed intact through long days, and the flap still closes with that reassuring mechanical certainty. Plain outfits have never looked better than under its arm.
