Smoky purple is a color I avoided for years because most versions turn childish. X9 Mauve does not — it is muted, slightly grey, the purple of lilac stems rather than sweets. On a Mini 18 it is quiet enough for work and odd enough to be remembered after dark.
Chèvre gives it texture. The natural grain is visible up close, matte in daylight, and the leather stays light, so the bag disappears on the shoulder. The dome and the zip-around construction follow the Bolide template; the pull is leather, and the silver-tone hardware is the only shine on the bag.
What I fit inside: a phone, flat card case, keys, one lipstick and a compact mirror, arranged so nothing rattles. Eighteen by eight by fifteen centimetres is a considered load rather than a forced one. Swap the card case for a mini wallet and a small bottle fits as well, barely.
Pairing notes: mauve is braver than it sounds and quieter than it looks — it flatters denim, oatmeal and black equally, and it takes a gold ring or a silver watch without preference. The one combination I avoid is burgundy; two wine-dark tones sitting close together turn muddy at this size.
The trade-off to accept: chèvre can mark if it scrapes along a rough wall or a heavy coat, and purple shades show those grazes faintly. Keep it off the floor and away from velcro — genuinely the main hazard — and this one will stay sharp for years.
