Menthe is the color I take on holiday, and this Mini 18 proves the theory. In a whitewashed seaside town it looked like it belonged there; back in the city it reads as one deliberate stroke of green against grey tailoring. It photographs the way mint actually looks — soft, never neon.
The goatskin body is fine-grained and light on the hand. I weighed the difference on a long walking day: this carried a phone, a passport in a slim sleeve, a cardholder, keys, a sunscreen stick and lip balm, and I forgot it was there more than once. That is chèvre’s quietly best trick.
Distances, exactly: eighteen centimetres across the base, eight deep, fifteen tall once the dome settles. The zip takes a firm pinch to start, then runs smoothly. Silver hardware keeps the cool register of the mint instead of turning it acidic with warm metal.
Where I wear it: with denim on a warm evening, or with an all-white outfit at a garden lunch — moments that call for something green and nothing heavy. On a picnic bench it survives better than you would expect, because the matte grain brushes clean with a thumb; just do not ask it to sit on wet grass all afternoon.
One honest word of caution — light green shows grime at the corners on city days, and chèvre does not enjoy being overstuffed. Treat it as a light-duty bag: evenings, weekends, travel days. What it does with that brief is charming.
