The cream version of a shearling sandal is the one that asks the most of you and gives the most back. Cream suede over ecru wool looks like a single material until you are close enough to separate the layers, and that tonal trick is what makes it work with pale winter knits.
Construction mirrors the rest of the shearling line: suede goatskin outside, shearling insole and lining inside, an anatomical rubber sole with a black outsole, an adjustable strap across the instep, and a heel height of 1.2 cm. Sizes span 36 to 41.
My test run was a long weekend in a cold city where I walked between galleries all day. The sheepskin kept my feet at a comfortable temperature even on stone floors, and because the footbed is fleece rather than leather, there was zero slip when I wore fine merino socks with it.
Colour-wise it is a soft-focus shoe. It sits naturally with oatmeal, camel, grey and cream clothing, and against a dark outfit it becomes the one light point – which is a useful trick in a winter wardrobe that otherwise runs to charcoal. The black sole keeps it from floating away entirely.
The honest part: cream suede and ecru wool are the two most visible surfaces a sandal can have. Rain spots suede, dark socks leave tint on fleece, and dusty pavements print on the insole. Brush after wear, air overnight, never store them damp, and this pair stays a pleasure rather than a chore.
