Rose gold is the underrated metal, and this pairing shows why. Against a green as bright as Vert Criquent, a grass-green with a yellow undertone, warm metal softens what could otherwise be a very shouty bag. With silver it would read sporty. With rose gold it reads like something from a garden in June.
The piece itself is the Kelly Pochette in Swift calfskin, 22 by 12 by 7 cm, with the smooth, saturated finish this leather is known for. I use mine on weekends when I want colour but not bulk: phone and cards on one side of the interior, keys and lipstick on the other, with the top handle free in my hand. The turn-lock is firm for the first month and then eases into a one-thumb operation.
Honest caveat: bright greens are harder to pair than neutrals, and this one will not sit quietly with red or strong prints. It loves white, navy, stone and denim, and it looks superb with a tan trench. Swift’s softness also means the bag slouches a little when empty, which is part of its charm unless you like architectural shapes.
Rose gold does darken at the points of contact over time; a jeweller’s cloth brings it back. On a bag this size there is only the clasp and the handle plate, so the upkeep is minimal. A minute with a cloth every month or so keeps the metal honest, and the leather itself needs nothing beyond that.
