Pale grey is the colorway that asks the most of you and gives the most back. Gris Pale is a near-white dove grey, and as a 25 cm folio carried in the hand it is noticed, which is either the appeal or the problem depending on your temperament.
I use mine for presentations and anything where I need to look organized. The A5 footprint holds a passport, cards, a phone and a folded brief without bulging, and the 4 cm depth keeps the whole thing sleek enough to hold in one hand while I shake someone else’s with the other.
Pebbled Togo is the right leather for a light color, because its grain breaks up reflections and hides the first faint marks better than smooth calf would. Even so, pale leather picks up dye from dark denim and ink from a leaking pen, and it shows a rainy day. I keep it in its dust bag when it is not in use and I do not set it down on raw wood.
Handled that way it stays bright, and the silver hardware keeps it looking crisp rather than sweet.
One detail worth knowing: pale Togo picks up dye from denim over months rather than days, so the change is gradual and it happens mostly along the back panel. A gentle cleaner every few months keeps it honest. In return, nothing else in my drawer lifts an outfit the way this pale grey does, and it does it without a logo.
