In July I carried this Toile H 25 to a work dinner and it did something none of my all-leather bags manage: it looked casual in daylight and properly dressed after dark. Black woven canvas with smooth swift calfskin trim is a quieter black than leather, matte and light-absorbing.
The 25 is an evening-first size, 25 by 20 by 13 cm, which takes a long wallet or card case, phone, keys, lipstick and a compact. A small sunglasses case fits if you skip the water bottle. Silver hardware keeps the black cool, and the tonal look means nothing sparkles, which is the point.
What I like in use is the weight: canvas makes this bag noticeably lighter than a full leather 25, and it swings less when you walk. The swift trim keeps the classic details: rolled handles, turn-lock, clochette, double stitching along the flap edge.
Canvas is durable but not invincible. It can rub shinier against rough wool, and noir toile is magnetic to dust, so a lint roller lives near my closet. Rain strikes a compromise: water marks would show on light canvas, but on black they hide well, which is part of why I chose Noir.
I wear it with tailoring and with jeans, and it holds both. If you want a small black bag that is not one more smooth calfskin, the toile version has a texture people notice at conversation distance.
