Blue Glacier reads white in candlelight and pale blue in daylight; I have watched it shift across a single dinner. It is a color that behaves like weather, and that is the most interesting thing about it.
The body is woven canvas with swift calfskin trim, and the compact 25 size holds the full evening kit: wallet, phone, keys, lipstick, compact. At a wedding it also swallowed a folded shawl. Silver hardware keeps the cool register, and the turn-lock and clochette are the same as on any leather Birkin.
In use the bag is light enough to forget it is there, which no all-leather 25 quite manages. The swift trim softens with handling and takes on a faint sheen at the handles, while the canvas stays matte and square. On grey days its pale blue does all the work.
Care is where it asks the most from me. Pale toile is the most watchful surface in this batch: newsprint ink, wet denim, a coughed espresso. Wipes handle fresh marks while old ones live on, and rain that dries unevenly can leave a tide line. I keep a silk scarf between it and raw denim in the car, and store it in its dust bag, away from sunlight.
Worn with white, navy or a sun-tanned capsule, it looks like a holiday even in the city. If you want the toile look without the vigilance, Noir will forgive you more.
