Beton is the color of the city it is named for: pavement, plaster, pale morning concrete. On a bag that grey becomes surprisingly kind, because it borrows the light around it instead of fighting for attention.
Silver hardware sits on swift calfskin, in the 25 size that measures 25 by 20 by 13 cm. Contents: wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses, a notebook for market lists, and a pastry that should have gone in a paper bag. I have used it for three city weekends now, and the grey has stayed grey; that is its quiet superpower.
In use it moves between museum mornings and terrace evenings without friction; the grey pairs with everything I own, and swift gives it a soft matte hand that keeps it firmly out of office territory.
Honest notes: concrete grey shows water spots, dark smudges and everything else with total neutrality; it is honest to the point of being an archive of your mishaps. Swift dents, so the 25 stores lightly filled, and mine has a small dark freckle near the base from a terrazzo floor that has already stopped bothering me. And pale grey plus a picnic motif means this bag has exactly no evening formality, so do not ask it for any.
Worn with charcoal, white or camel it disappears into good taste, and on market mornings it looks right without effort. It is a grey with a sense of play, which is rarer than it should be.
