Camel leather with silver hardware is a small act of courage: warm and cool in the same object. On the Kelly 32 in 37 Gold, the cool metal stops the caramel from settling into anything old-fashioned, and the 32 by 23 by 10.5 cm body keeps the whole thing brisk rather than sweet. I wore mine through a working week of office days and gallery evenings, and it moved through both like it belonged.
Togo gives the bag its friendly weight and movement. The pebbled surface softens the light across the leather, and the grain means scrapes and rain flecks disappear into texture; the bag has looked after itself in every city I have taken it to. Inside, a long wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses and a notebook fit comfortably, and the strap crosses the body when the day involves more walking than meetings.
In daylight the combination is quietly modern; against charcoal it sharpens, and against white it looks like summer. It is one of the few bags I own that both my tailor and my sister have approved of, which tells you more than any description can.
Two honest points. First, after years of use, soft Togo in a warm tan shows the first wear as a slight lightening at the corners and handle, where the pigment moves with the leather; on Gold this reads as character rather than damage, but it is worth expecting. Second, if you want the purest autumnal warmth in the range, the gold-hardware version edges it. The silver keeps things cooler and, to my eye, more contemporary.
