I packed this Etain Kelly 32 for a three-day trip and ended up carrying it to every meeting on the schedule. Togo’s pebbled grain has a matte softness that keeps the grey-brown from looking flat, and the rose gold hardware is the detail people notice first – it puts a warm blush against a colour that could otherwise read purely businesslike.
At 32 by 23 centimetres, it is the working size of this shape. A slim laptop sleeve, a folio of A4 papers, a zip pouch and a phone all go in without a squeeze, and the single rolled handle still lets me carry it in the crook of my arm. The removable strap came in useful at the airport, worn long over a coat, and again at dinner, shortened to the shoulder.
Togo is one of the softer calfskins used for this style, so expect a slight settle at the top corners as the bag fills – nothing collapses, but it relaxes toward the carrier. That grain also hides everyday scuffs better than a smooth surface; mine has absorbed taxis, cafe tables and airplane lockers without showing any of it, and a brush with a dry cloth keeps the pebble looking even.
My honest caution concerns weight. Loaded for a full workday – laptop, papers, bottle – a 32 carries like a 32, and the top handle encourages you to shift it to the crook of an elbow. I keep my contents lean and leave the heavy folders at the office when I can.
If you build around neutrals, Etain sits beautifully between grey and brown, and rose gold keeps it from feeling severe. It is the rare colour that flatters both a grey suit and a cream knit.
