Blue Jean in Togo is a different animal from the same colour in firmer leathers – the pebbled grain catches light in small darts and shadows, so the denim blue looks yarn-like, almost woven, and it softens to the touch in the hand. Worn with a grey sweater and old jeans, it turns a weekend into a considered look.
The Kelly 28 measures 28 by 22 by 10 centimetres and carries wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses and a paperback at a push. Gold hardware warms the faded blue in a way that reads slightly vintage – the leather and the metal seem to come from the same era – and the strap removes for evenings when the bag sits on the table instead of a chair.
Behaviour follows Togo’s nature: the bag relaxes at the top with use, the grain hides scratches that would show on smooth leather, and rain rolls off well enough for city days, though I would not walk an hour through a storm with it. Stored stuffed, it keeps a gentle, deliberate slouch rather than a collapse.
Honest note: Togo absorbs hand oils at the handle over time, so the top grip will darken a shade before the rest of the bag does. I count it as patina; if you would not, choose a leather with a sealed surface instead.
For denim, chambray and off-duty tailoring, this is the casual Blue Jean that still carries a turnlock.
