Etoupe is the quietest color here, and I mean that as a compliment. It is a warm taupe, gray with a brown heart, or brown with a gray coat, depending on the hour, and it happens to be the shade that makes every other color in an outfit look intentional.
In the Neo Garden Party 23, that neutrality is very practical. The bag measures 23 x 16 x 10 cm and carries the daily skeleton: phone, cards, keys and a modest amount of optimism about the weather. The handles sit in the hand, the top tabs snap, and the whole thing weighs almost nothing before you fill it. Its shape is nicely architectural for a soft leather, and it holds that shape in the hand, even when half full.
Negonda calfskin gives Etoupe its characteristic softness. This is a leather that wants to be handled, and the matte grain shows in low light as a fine, even texture rather than a shine. The silver hardware is the only cool note in an otherwise warm object, which is what keeps it from drifting into beige safeness.
The trade-offs are minor but worth knowing. Taupe is hard to keep crisp, and soft Negonda will show the bag’s slouch over time. And there is no shoulder strap, so it commutes by hand, which I have come to prefer for small bags anyway.
If you only add one color to a neutral wardrobe, make it this one.
