Orange is not a neutral, and pretending otherwise misses the point. The Neo Garden Party 23 in this color is a deliberate flash, a satchel-sized hit of pure orange that is vivid, warm and impossible to ignore.
In practice, I use it as punctuation. Gray coat, white shirt, orange bag: done. The bag itself is a tidy 23 by 16 by 10 cm and swallows the essentials, phone, cards, keys, lipstick and sunglasses, with the gusset keeping sunglasses from being crushed by keys. Short handles, hand carry, no strap; it behaves like a clutch with a spine. The interior is one open pocket, so nothing needs unpacking to be found.
Negonda calfskin gives the orange depth; without texture, a color this saturated can look like molded plastic, and the matte grain saves it. Silver hardware is the right metal for orange, because gold would tip it into Halloween territory.
The honest caveat: this bag is an event every time it leaves the house, and there are days when that is more than you want to be. It also shows scuffs on a bright surface sooner than a dark one, so it is not the piece I hand to a child or take to a muddy festival. Rain is also not its friend; water spots on orange dry slowly and show.
Kept for the right days, it has replaced both my black clutch and my scarf as the thing that makes a plain outfit deliberate.
