A black crossbody should be the most forgettable bag you own, and with the Evelyne 33 in Noir, that is the highest compliment I can pay it. It disappears against a coat, rides at your hip, and lets your hands belong to you again.
Travel is where it proves itself. The 33 x 30 x 9 cm body slides flat against the back or chest in crowds, the adjustable canvas strap puts the bag exactly where you want it, and the perforated H worked into the rear panel is both signature and ventilation. Because the top is open by design, I keep cards and keys in a zip pouch inside and nothing has ever gone missing.
Clemence bull leather gives the bag its soft, pebbled body, which is why it collapses into a slouch rather than standing; the grain takes a day of travel, a touch of rain and a lot of handling without looking bruised. Silver hardware appears only where the strap attaches, deliberately out of the way.
Two truths before you commit: under-filled, the bag sags like a market basket, and the webbing strap, while adjustable and washable, keeps the look casual by definition. Neither bothered me; together they explain why this is the bag I take when I want to forget I am carrying one. The canvas strap washes clean with a sponge, which I tested, carefully.
Black, soft, open. A bag with nothing to prove. Worn with everything from tailoring to tired jeans, it agrees with all of it.
