The Robeo Coeur hides its heart in plain sight: a small stitched heart on the blanket of an otherwise serious little horse. In Noir with Craie and Céleste accents, it is a love letter written in a banker’s handwriting — all business until you look closer. It is the only piece of jewellery I have bought that cannot disappear into the lining of a bag.
The charm is about 8.5 cm long and 7.5 tall, two fingers deep, Milo lambskin with a lanyard already attached. The heart is appliquéd, not printed, which matters to the hand — you can feel the stitched edge when the horse rides against your palm. The lanyard loops neatly through a handle root and settles without drama.
I gave one to my partner and kept one for myself; hers lives on a black bucket bag, mine on the strap of a laptop tote. On dark leather the white heart is the only warm thing in the silhouette, and it has started a surprising number of conversations. Strangers read it as a brooch for a bag, which is more or less what it is. Two friends have copied me since, which is the sincerest form of flattery and slightly annoying.
The caveat: pale Craie details on a black charm are the first to show handling, and the lanyard is long enough to swing inside a shallow bag. Neither bothers me. If you are buying it as a gift, know that the heart is subtle — this is not a novelty charm.
