I packed for a late-summer wedding with two card holders in the bag and came home having used only this one. In i9 Apricot with 37 Gold, the R.M.S. sits in a warm register that flatters linen, tan leather and even a rented morning suit. The shade is softer than the word orange ever suggests.
Format and capacity are unchanged from the rest of the family: seven centimetres tall, ten and a half wide, a two-centimetre spine that keeps cards square. I flew with four cards, a hotel key in a paper sleeve and a folded note for taxis. On the return leg I added a boarding pass for the first time — it folded once and fitted without a fight, and the closure still met cleanly.
Evecolor in a pale colour is a fair test of any workshop, and this one holds up. After two hot days against a jacket lining the surface still looks even, with no patchiness at the corners and no dark thumbprint around the opening. The fittings carry a gold-read enamel that suits apricot far better than chrome could — warm on warm. A small detail I enjoy: the enamel edge catches light the way a signet ring does.
Worth knowing: pale warm leathers ask for clean hands. Holiday sunscreen is not a friend to apricot, as I learned on day one. A soft dry cloth each evening is the entire cost of carrying a colour this pleasant.
