Some colours demand attention; shade 37 Gold simply receives it. It is the warm, honeyed tan of well-broken-in tack leather, and on a soft bucket bag it looks like something you have carried for years even when it has just arrived.
I keep choosing the 18 because it is the easiest of the Picotin sizes to live with: a genuine bucket drawn from the shape of a horse’s feed bag, with one rolled top handle and a small lock plate at the centre where the strap ends thread through. What makes it feel lived-in from the first week is the leather. Clemence is a thick bull calf with a generous pebble grain and a mostly matte surface; it folds, softens and slouches, so the bag never reads as rigid. It also will not stand up on its own — more on that below.
Practically speaking: eighteen centimetres across and thirteen deep, which puts a phone in the middle, a compact wallet upright against one wall, keys curled into a corner and a lipstick where I can find it without digging. The handle rides the wrist or the crook of the arm rather than the shoulder.
Silver hardware is the quiet partner for this tan; it steps back and lets the leather talk. The honest catch: empty Clemence collapses into itself, so I keep tissue inside when it is stored and it holds a rounded posture for years.
