Gold on a wallet usually means hardware; here it is the leather itself. The fittings stay silver, and because the tone is a soft sandy gold rather than a shiny one, the two metals sit together more comfortably than you would imagine.
This is the roomier cut of the H Passant compact, 18.5 by 11.5 cm with a 4.5 cm gusset, and it opens wide enough that I can see the whole interior without emptying it onto a table. The H detail on the front is cut from the same leather as the body, so the colour runs uninterrupted across the flap.
Epsom keeps its structure in this shade particularly well; a warm grain hides the small daily abrasions that a dark, smooth leather would show as scuffs. Long use has not softened the profile at all, and the silver has kept its finish.
The note I would give a friend: gold-tone leather is a bigger decision than a neutral, because it commits you to warm tones in whatever bag you pair it with. In a charcoal tote it looks deliberate; in a navy one it fights slightly. I keep it with browns, greens and stone, where it settles in beautifully.
One last thought on capacity, since it is easy to underestimate: with the gusset open I can see and reach every card at once, so paying at a till takes seconds, even with a queue watching. For anyone who uses cash and coins more than cards, this is the cut to choose over the slim version.
