A two-tone bag divides the room, which is exactly why I like this one. Vert Fizz and Menthe are two greens a season apart — one bright, one soft — sharing a single body, with a border of matte alligator running the seams.
By the numbers the bag is the routine nineteen by twelve and a half by nine centimetres: it takes a phone, a card case, keys and a lipstick, and still zips closed with a fingertip of pressure.
Wearing it, I keep the rest of the outfit in one flat tone and let the two greens do the pattern. The alligator trim is Mississippi-hide, tanned matte, so the scale texture reads dry and graphic rather than glossy — it is the detail that keeps the whole bag away from cute. Gold hardware warms both greens without favouring either, threading them together like stitching.
Swift calfskin gives the lighter green a satin finish, and the two colours meet along a clean seam down the middle, which any hand-bag obsessive will tell you is the hard part.
Honest note: two greens are more to dress around than one. If your wardrobe has its own greens they must be cousins, not strangers, and the matte alligator wants hand cream and rain kept away. Worth it for the pleasure of a bag nobody else at dinner has. Worn once a week, it has already become the piece people remember from my wardrobe, and the two greens are the reason why.
