Some colors arrive with a memory attached. Bambou is the green of the garden border in late May — bright, saturated, unmistakably alive — and on a Clemence Lindy 26 with gold hardware it has a happy, holiday energy that few bags manage without looking juvenile. I take it out when I want the day to have some lift in it.
The construction follows the line: 26 by 18 by 12 centimetres, pebbled leather softening the brightness, gold fittings adding nutty warmth. Worn on the shoulder the bag sits small and bright against a white shirt; worn cross-body over a rust or navy coat it becomes the point of the outfit rather than a member of it.
Packed for a city summer: sunglasses, phone, card case, keys, lip balm, a paperback in the main cavity and a canvas hat flattened into the back. The side pockets hold tickets and a transit card. Clemence stretches gently to accommodate all of it, and after a season the bag has taken on the shape of its contents — a small, personal geography.
The trade, plainly stated: this is not a green that disappears into a wardrobe, and anyone who wants one bag for the school run, the office and a wedding will find others here more flexible. High-saturation leather also shows scuffs the way bright blues do — visible, but shallow. For me the deal is fair: Bambou is the bag that makes a Tuesday feel like an errand worth running.
