Two textures on one bag is a decision I did not trust until I carried this one. The Gris Meyer Lindy 26 mixes Taurillon Clemence — soft, pebbled, matte — with panels of matte alligator. Up close the eye reads it as one grey object with an inner seam of pattern; from two metres away it reads as a well-kept grey handbag. That restraint is the design.
Gris Meyer itself sits between dove and the blue side of grey, and gold hardware nudges it warm. The proportions are the familiar twenty-six, eighteen and twelve centimetres, with the zipped side pockets and folding handles that define this line. The alligator sections are flat and matte, not glossy, so nothing about the bag flashes.
I use it for days with meetings: a phone, a notebook, a slim wallet, keys, glasses and a fountain pen, and there is room left for a mid-size pouch. The strap goes cross-body when I am carrying documents; the handles come up when I want my hands free of the strap, which sounds contradictory and is exactly how this bag works.
Care is where the honesty comes in. Alligator and water are not friends — a caught shower means blotting, not rubbing, and drying away from heat. Matte finishes also dislike hand cream, so I wipe my palms if I have just moisturized. None of that is onerous, but it is real, and I would rather you hear it from me than from the leather itself.
