A canvas Kelly sounds like a contradiction until you pick one up. The Toile H body is woven cotton, dense and structured, and the Swift calfskin trim, flap, handle and straps, keeps every edge exact. In Chai, a soft tea-toned neutral, with silver hardware, the result is the lightest 35cm Kelly I have carried, and the one that made the most sense last August.
What surprised me was the structure. Toile H is not a floppy fabric; it holds the 35 by 24 by 12 cm silhouette cleanly, and the leather corners keep the bag honest when it is set down. Inside, a wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses and a light cardigan fit with room to spare, and the flap opens smoothly over the fabric edge without catching.
The colour story is subtle. Chai reads warm against linen and stone, cool against black, and the silver hardware leans it modern. It pairs with straw and raffia in summer, and with a trench coat in town, and it looks like a travel bag that stayed in the city.
Two honest notes before you commit. Toile H should not be carried in heavy rain; the weave does not seal like embossed leather, so I check the forecast and keep the bag under my arm when clouds gather. And Swift marks more readily than Togo, especially at the flap edge where hands pass, so I keep nails short and treat the trim now and then. Neither has stopped mine travelling everywhere from the coast to the city.
