Raisin is one of those colours that quietly defeats photography: 59 is a plum-brown with a dark wine core, and it flips between pure brown in daylight and almost-black under indoor lights. On Epsom’s embossed grain, the plum notes surface exactly when the light hits a fold, which makes the bag feel alive on the arm.
This Kelly Mini 2 measures 19 x 12 x 5.5 cm, and Epsom’s rigid, scratch-resistant surface suits the idea of a deep, moody bag that still works with daily life. Silver hardware is the pairing I prefer — palladium reads as a cool pin against the wine tones, whereas gold would have warmed them into something sweeter. I carry the mini basics: phone, card case, keys, lipstick, and the strap sits neatly across a winter coat.
Wearing notes from my own rotation: raisin is at its best with black, cream, grey flannel and dark denim; it also looks unexpectedly right with olive, which is not a sentence I expected to write. The interior has the usual zip and slip pockets, and the clochette swings from the flap post exactly as it should.
An honest observation after a season: indoors, this bag can pass for black from across a room, so if you are buying it expecting a visible purple statement, adjust expectations — it is a depth-of-colour bag, not a colour-pop bag. Epsom’s trade-off applies too: it keeps its angles and will not slump into softness with wear. Some owners want that; some don’t. I do.
