Metallic leather usually means a bag you wear twice and then keep in a box; this one ended that prejudice for me. Colour 05 Argent is a soft, grey-silver metallic rather than a foil — the shimmer is quiet, almost like candlelight on pewter — and because it sits on chevre’s fine grain, the shine has texture to break it up instead of glaring flat.
Silver hardware was the inevitable pairing and it works precisely because it does not match perfectly: the metal is colder and harder than the leather, so the bag keeps a little tension rather than becoming a single silver object. Chevre’s other gifts apply too — it is light, it holds its shape, and it takes this unusual finish without looking painted.
A 12 cm tall, 19 cm long shell with a 5.5 cm gusset holds phone, cardholder, keys, lipstick. I wear it with black, with white, with denim, and especially at that hour of the evening when the lighting turns kind; metallic leather under low light is one of the few genuinely magical materials in a handbag wardrobe.
Honest note: metallic finishes can buff at the corners with heavy daily use, so I keep this one out of the everyday rotation and treat it as the evening piece it wants to be. It also never takes on the soft patina of normal leather — it stays exactly as new, forever, which some people will love and others will not.
For evenings, it earns its keep fast.
