Ask ten people to describe a Kelly and you will get this bag: black, softly grained, gold metal, a shape like a house with a handle. It is the default for good reason. On the 32, pebbled Togo keeps the black alive rather than lacquered, and the gold hardware turns the bag warmer and more companionable than its silver twin. It goes to work, to dinner, to a wedding, and to the airport without a single change.
In the hand it is already soft. This leather drapes to the contents, so the 32 by 23 by 10.5 cm body carries more than it looks like it should: a long wallet, phone, keys, a pouch, sunglasses and a folded scarf all settle in with the flap closing cleanly. The turn-lock moves in one practiced motion, and the strap is comfortable across the body, or shoulder-hung when you want your hands for a coffee and a phone.
Black Togo is also the most forgiving leather I know against the small accidents of real life, from doorway scrapes to a dropped key ring. Marks brush away or simply vanish into the grain.
One honest note: a well-used Togo flap develops a faint soft crease where it folds, and mine arrived with that suppleness already worked in. If you are looking for the untouched stiffness of a display piece, this is not it. If you want the Kelly that slips into your life on day one and stays, you have found it.
