Honey crocodile is a strange pleasure: Miel is a warm, translucent gold-brown, and on porosus, the widest and most regular scales in the crocodile world, the colour pools in the ridges and lightens across the tiles. Then there is the practical surprise. While most Kelly 25s in this collection measure 25 by 17 by 7 cm, this one is listed at 25 by 20 by 13 cm, so it carries visibly deeper than its sisters.
That extra depth is the reason I reach for it on long days. Into the body go a phone, card holder, keys, a small camera, sunglasses with their case and a folded pashmina, and the flap still closes flat. The scales are large and even, with a crispness that suits the deeper gusset; the bag stands on its base like a small trunk.
Silver hardware keeps the honey tone from tipping syrupy; the cool metal against warm scales is the same logic as salt in caramel. The turn-lock has the firm, precise action I look for in porosus pieces.
Honest note: crocodile still wants care, meaning dry storage, no rain and a wipe after handling, and the deeper body adds a little bulk under the arm compared with a standard 25. If your days are long and your evenings are later, the trade is worth it; this is the most useful exotic I have owned, precisely because it carries more than it looks like it will.
